Steenbergs' Ras al hanut, organic harissa and organic chermoula have long been popular blends of ours, with ras al hanout normally in our top 10 sellers. We've added to this middle eastern range with a whole host of new flavours and seasonings. By popular demand, Za'atar is making a come back very shortly and sumac has long been in our top 10 best sellers, so we've decided to extend this range with our new Arabic blends. Why not try out our recipe for harissa chicken with couscous from our recipe section with our organic harissa - choose from our two versions including our new one with rose.
Pancake treats - February 24th
Shrove Tuesday this year falls on February 24th - traditionally the time to use up lots of yummy things before fasting for lent. This year Steenbergs has created a pancake box - with Sunflours organic stone ground organic flour, and three of our delicious organic Fairtrade sugars to get your pancake treats off to a flying start. Sunflours is a local flour mill where they still mill flour traditionally, we stock a range of their flours. We've also recently added organic golden syrup to our webshop as an alternative to drizzle over the pancakes.
Organic allspice and other hard to find items
Organic allspice has been hard to find in the last 6 months as unfortunately the last two harvests have failed in Guatemala. However, we are delighted to say that new stocks are now in of this delicious spice which is wonderful in sweet and savoury dishes and is a key ingredient in many of our blends. We are currently awaiting the arrival of lumi (dried lime) from Iran which we will be using as part of our Arabian range. We will continue to be on the case of other organic ingredients that are currently proving elusive and work with some of our growing partners to fill in the gaps.
New products to complement our baking range
We've added a range of organic nuts, dried fruits and essentials such as organic rice and oats to the website. These are packed by Country Products who are local to us here in North Yorkshire. The range includes a delicious organic bombay mix which is proving very popular in the office. We've included organic sultanas, organic currants and organic raisins as well as organic apricots. As well as the baking ingredients, we've added a number of storecupboard staples such as organic rice, organic couscous and organic pasta. These join Steenbergs organic home baking range, Sunflour organic flours , a range of organic and Fairtrade sugars - caster, icing and demerara - and Doves yeast to help you with your delicious organic baking.
Organic jams, jellies and chutneys
Along with the new baking ingredients range from Suma and Country Products we have added to the Glenroyd Organics range of organic jams, marmalade and chutneys and also added a few from Kitchen Garden. We've pulled this together into a new - organic sauces and condiments section. Kitchen Garden have been making products in the heart of the Cotswolds since 1989. Their organic seville marmalade is deliciously bitter sweet and has been described as similar to home made. It is all hand made. Likewise Glenroyd Organics jams and chutneys are all home made from South Yorkshire. They've been going for only a couple of years and make it all themselves. As well as these producers, we have supplemented the section with Trees can't dance - organic sweet chilli sauce and Green & Black's delicious and moreish chocolate and hazelnut spread - perfect as a filling for chocolate cakes such as our Aldborough chocolate cake.
